Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee picked up another coveted transfer player on Friday, and this time it was a family affair. Previously a safety at Georgia, Deangelo Gibbs is the cousin of UT defensive back Nigel Warrior and Gibbs announced today on his personal Twitter account that he is transferring from the Bulldogs to the Vols.

According to the 247 Sports composite ranking, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Gibbs was the No. 49 overall prospect and the No. 4 safety in the class of 2017. He hails from Oxford, GA and despite being a highly-touted recruit, Gibbs only saw the field for the Bulldogs in 13 games over the course of two seasons in Athens. In that time, he accumulated 10 total tackles.

It’s likely that Gibbs will have to sit out for the coming season due to NCAA transfer rules but he will have two years of eligibility remaining when he becomes available to play.
