Tennessee snagged its first SEC win of the season on Saturday and the victory came from solid play across the Vols roster. And few players dressed in orange were better than quarterback Jarrett Guarantano and defensive lineman Kyle Phillips. Their performances were so good, in fact, that both were named SEC Players of the Week by the league on Monday.
Guarantano was named the co-offensive player of the week in the SEC after he had a career game against the Tigers. JG threw for 328 yards on 21 completions and two touchdowns.
Phillips was honored as the SEC defensive lineman of the week after he tallied nine tackles, a half sack, and he forced the fumble that led to a defensive touchdown against Auburn.
