On Monday afternoon, VolQuest.com reported that Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton is expected to be named the new head football coach at Western Kentucky.
Reports surfaced after UT’s season finale at Vanderbilt that Helton was likely parting ways with the Vols. Jeremy Pruitt initially denied those reports.
The move by Helton may not have much to do with his performance at Tennessee during the 2018 season, as he was the offensive coordinator at WKU under Jeff Brohm during 2014-15. Helton may have just been ready to be a head coach.
We will add to this report if any new information emerges.
