Tennessee had quite a successful National Signing Day on Wednesday by getting commitments from four-star linebacker Henry To’oto’o, three-star cornerback Kenney Solomon, and five-star offensive lineman Darnell Wright.
These commitments gave UT the No. 12 recruiting class nationally and the No. 7 class in the SEC in 247 Sports’ composite rankings. It’s an impressive haul for a program that went 5-7 in its last football season and it should undoubtedly bolster the Vols in coming years.
But make no mistake, these highly-touted recruits didn’t just fall out of the sky. They had to be sold a vision by UT’s coaching staff and perhaps no one did a better job of selling that vision than Tennessee tight ends coach Brian Niedermeyer.
In fact, Niedermeyer is so good at this that as of this publishing, 247 Sports lists him as the top recruiter in America…
According to his recruiter profile, Niedermeyer has been involved in some way in the recruiting of Darnell Wright (5-star OL), Henry To’oto’o (4-star LB),
Add to this the fact that Jeremy Pruitt just added to his staff the No. 1 recruiter from 2016 in Tee Martin and things are really looking up for Tennessee on the recruiting trail. It’s not easy to pull a program from the depths that UT sank to in the last few years and the best place to start is with great players. And with a staff like this, perhaps things are about to get a little better on Rocky Top.
